Overview

The DuluxGroup’s origins date back to 1918, with its original heritage in decorative paint. Today with over 4,000 employees worldwide, DuluxGroup is a leading manufacturer of premium branded products that protect, maintain and enhance the spaces and places we live.

DuluxGroup, wanting to maintain its market-leading high-quality products, appointed Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment to install and commission a Water Treatment Plant that uses Ultra‐Filtration and Reverse Osmosis technology to treat 200KL/ of Water per Day.

The Problem

With the Queensland State Government’s SEQ Water Grid now in place, the DuluxGroup manufacturing plant in Rocklea encountered fluctuations of conductivity in the feed water used in the paint manufacturing process. These fluctuations, sometimes above 800 uS/cm, were affecting the paint quality.

Our Solution

After extensive testing, it was determined DuluxGroup required a demineralisation plant to use within their paint manufacturing plant as the detected conductivity level can affect paint quality.

Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment designed and installed a demineralisation plant comprising an Ultra‐Filtration and Reverse Osmosis system for the Dulux Group for use within the paint manufacturing plant.

Although the water is used for the paint manufacturing process and not drinking, it does affect the paint quality. Thus, a water treatment plant will reduce excess conductivity to improve quality and reliability.
