Discover Dowdens' advanced range of pumps for mining applicationsWelcome to Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment, with many decades of industry experience, we take pride in being a leading provider of high-quality pumping solutions. Our commitment to excellence has earned us a reputation as a trusted partner in the mining sector. We understand the unique challenges faced by mining operations, and that's why we offer an advanced range of underground mine dewatering pumps, pneumatic submersible pumps, trailer-mounted and skid pumps and so much more. All of which are specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of the mining industry. The importance of reliable pumps in miningIn the mining industry, reliable pumping solutions are essential for the success and safety of operations. Mines require efficient dewatering, slurry handling and water transport systems to ensure a smooth workflow and minimise downtime. Unplanned interruptions due to pump failures can lead to costly delays and compromise safety measures. That's why investing in high-quality and robust pumps, such as reliable underground mine dewatering pumps, is critical for maintaining productivity and ensuring the well-being of your mining operations. Mining ApplicationsDowdens manufactures and supplies various products and systems for open-cut highwall and longwall underground applications. These include underground and above-ground pumping stations, trailer and skid-mounted portable pumping stations, pontoon pumping stations for reservoirs and underground portable fish tanks, AODD sump pumps and much more. World Class BrandsDowndens supplies and services the world's best brands to suit all your mining requirements. Dewatering PODs and Fish TanksDowdens Pumping and Water Treatment have purpose engineered a range of underground dewatering tanks with a maximum capacity of 14,000L (larger capacities available upon request). Portable Fish Tanks are used in underground mines as a part of the water management process. Mine water is collected from sumps and wet areas around the mine by air-operated Wilden pumps and delivered to the Fish Tank. Water level sensors then activate the pump and transfer the collected mine water to the central station, dam or directly out of the mine portal. Mine water is typically dirty with coal, rock, and dirt; pumps used are able to handle a slurry product. Fish tanks can be located in hazardous areas and fitted with flameproof motors and control panels with PLC and SCADA. The tanks are designed to minimise maintenance, with the shape allowing for a self-cleaning action that dramatically reduces the retention of solids. In addition, the tank is equipped with a flanged sump for periodic cleaning. PODS and Fish Tanks are just one of the many dewatering solutions available from Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment. Trailer & Skid Mounted PumpsDowdens Pumping and Water Treatment provide customers with purpose-built solutions. We can either create trailer pumps or skid mounted pumps with electric or diesel options, depending on the application. All feature a single point lift, integral fuel tank with 48hr run time, engine and pump protection, full mine site compliance, with or without electric braking system and can be fitted with a gantry for the suction pipe. Customised Dewatering Pump System Case Study >> Sump Pumps (AODD and Pneumatic Submersible)Wilden AODD PumpsWilden’s AODD pump technology, invented in 1955 by Jim Wilden, has been proven over the ensuing years to excel when used in severe-duty mining applications. The list is long when naming the applications where mine operators are utilizing Wilden AODD pumps, including:

Pressure Setting Spool PieceAs filtered water flows vertically from the surface the pressure at the mine level can be several thousand kPa. Normal orifice or flow restrictors induce high velocities in a very short space resulting in cavitation & sonic sound which can erode the components & reduce their effect. Dowdens Engineering Department designed and developed a Pressure Setting Spool sized specifically to meet the specific duty required. The spool was custom designed using engineered fluid mechanics to reduce the pressure before it entered the valve station, taking part of the load off the station. Pipe supports were also engineered to provide a secure installation of the station. Pressure Setting Spool Piece Case Study >> Mining Solutions deliveredIn our over 45 years of operation, Dowdens had manufactured, supplied and installed many successful mining application solutions.
