Mine Site Dewatering PODs and Fish Tanks
Dowdens Pumping and Water Treatment have purpose engineered a range of underground dewatering tanks with a maximum capacity of 14,000L (larger capacities available upon request).
Portable Fish Tanks are used in underground mines as a part of the water management process. Mine water is collected from sumps and wet areas around the mine by air-operated Wilden pumps and delivered to the Fish Tank. Water level sensors then activate the pump and transfer the collected mine water to the central station, dam or directly out of the mine portal.
Mine water is typically dirty with coal, rock, and dirt; pumps used are able to handle a slurry product. Fish tanks can be located in hazardous areas and fitted with flameproof motors and control panels with PLC and SCADA.
The tanks are designed to minimise maintenance, with the shape allowing for a self-cleaning action that dramatically reduces the retention of solids. In addition, the tank is equipped with a flanged sump for periodic cleaning. PODS and Fish Tanks are just one of the many dewatering solutions available from Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment.

Underground Pump Stations
Dowdens can design, install and maintain underground pumping stations suitable for all your dewatering applications. These systems can include a single pump, duty/standby arrangements or even pumps in series to meet the required demands. Our experienced EPC department can engineer a solution, design, source and supply all system components required and deliver the project whilst meeting all the required guidelines.
Borehole Pumps
Borehole pumping is an efficient and effective way to manage underground water. Dowdens have the capabilities to design, supply and install a system to ensure that the mining operations are not affected by water inrush. One of the main advantages with borehole dewatering is that all of the infrastructure is accessed from the surface operations. The pumps are available in a range of voltages to suit the application and can be installed with galvanised steel flanged columns or layflat hose.

Pontoons for Reservoirs and Dams
Water management is one of the most significant issues in mining; too much, too little or in the wrong place can unnecessarily burden mine operations. Reservoirs are ever-present as mass water storage, and getting water out and distributed for use is challenging, considering water quality, access, and logistics. Dowdens Pumping and Water Treatment manufacture several options, with pontoons being one of the most popular.
Dowdens Designed Pontoons are manufactured in various sizes and capacities for the most arduous services, from slurry to high discharge pressures. Dowden’s engineering team can design and deliver a tailored solution to meet your requirements. Contact our industrial sales team today to discuss your specific needs.
