Overview

The Townsville General Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital located in Douglas, Townsville. The Townsville Hospital provides the latest in cardiac, obstetric, gynaecological, paediatric, neurosurgical, orthopaedic, cancer, mental health, neonatal, allied health, anaesthetic, and intensive care services. Townsville General Hospital treats patients from across North Queensland, as far north as Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait Islands, and west to Mount Isa and the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Townsville General Hospital engaged Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment to Brisbane Engineering Department & Fabrication Workshop to design, manufacture, install and commission a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment system.

The Problem

The hospital required a Reverse Osmosis system to treat Townsville mains water to supply four onsite ‘sterilising washers’ used in the Central Sterile Supply Department of the Townsville General Hospital.

Our Solution

Dowdens Pumping and Water Treatment designed a Reverse Osmosis Systems that produces water quality of <30 uS/cm. This system also produces 24 m3 of treated water a day.

Key Components

  • Full Human Interface Controller / Programmable Logic Controller for Building Management System compatibility
  • 24m3 / day Duty Standby RO system
  • Glass/Carbon filtration
  • Antiscalant dosing
  • CIP system
